Which Aerolite® grade to ask for when your specification names another maker's gasket material. Compared on construction, with the datasheets linked so you can check.
Most gasket specifications are written around one manufacturer's grade names. This page lists the Aerolite® grade that is built the same way as each of those grades, so a buyer or engineer can ask for the comparable Aerolite® material and compare the two datasheets side by side. TBJ-UTEX manufactures every Aerolite® product below in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
What the tables mean. A grade is listed against another maker's grade when it shares the same material class and construction, or when both are made to the same dimensional standard. That is the whole claim. The tables do not say that two grades perform the same under pressure or temperature; those figures are on each product's datasheet, and your engineer should compare them for the service in question before substituting.
Basis: Same fibre and binder class. All four Aerolite grades are made in the same sheet sizes with thickness tolerance to BS 7531. Grade details, sheet sizes and the cutting service are on the CNAF gasket page.
| CNAF sheet | Aerolite® NA3100 | Aerolite® NA3900 | Aerolite® NA3909 | Aerolite® NA4420 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Construction | Organic fibre, NBR binder | Aramid and organic fibre, NBR binder | Aramid and organic fibre, NBR binder, steel wire reinforced | Aramid and glass fibre, NBR binder |
| Klingersil® | — | C-4243 / C-4403 / C-4400 | — | C-4430 |
| Lamons® | L420 | L441 | — | L443 |
| Tombo® | 1995 | 1935 | — | — |
| Valqua® | 6500 | 6500 | 6502 | — |
Listed for cross-reference only. Verify the datasheets side by side before substitution.
Basis: Same reinforcement construction: homogeneous graphite, 316L tanged insert, or 316L foil insert. Grade details are on the graphite page.
| Graphite sheet | Aerolite® GS1004 | Aerolite® GS3004 | Aerolite® GS7004 | Aerolite® PSM-300 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Construction | Homogeneous expanded graphite, no insert | Graphite with 0.1 mm 316L tanged insert | Graphite with 0.05 mm 316L foil insert | High-grade graphite with 0.1 mm 316L tanged insert |
| KLINGER® | — | PSM | SLS | PSM |
| Lamons® | LG-L | LG-TC | LG-SS | LG-TC |
| Tombo® | 1200 | 1210-A | 1215-A | 1210-A |
Listed for cross-reference only. Verify the datasheets side by side before substitution.
Basis: Same construction: a serrated metal core with a soft facing on each side. Pipe-flange sizes are to ASME B16.20; exchanger gaskets are made to the exchanger drawing. Styles, core alloys and facings are on the kammprofile page; exchanger details on the heat exchanger page.
| Brand | Their product | Aerolite® product |
|---|---|---|
| Flexitallic® | Flexpro | Aerolite® Kammprofile, styles KP1, KP2 and KP3 |
| KLINGER® | Maxiprofile | Aerolite® Kammprofile, styles KP1, KP2 and KP3 |
| Lamons® | Kammpro | Aerolite® Kammprofile, styles KP1, KP2 and KP3 |
Listed for cross-reference only. Verify the datasheets side by side before substitution.
These are not cross-referenced by brand grade. Spiral wound gasket dimensions and ring type joint ring numbers are defined by ASME B16.20 and API 6A, not by any manufacturer, so a gasket from any maker carrying the same nominal size and class, or the same ring number, is made to the same dimensions. Ask for the Aerolite® spiral wound gasket by size, class and winding material, or the ring type joint by ring number using the RTJ dimension chart.
Basis: Same filler type and the same intended service. Grades are compared on construction only. The full range is on the PTFE page.
| Aerolite® product | Brand | Their product | Construction compared |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silica-filled PTFE sheet | Garlock® | Gylon 3500 | Structured PTFE with silica filler for strong acids. |
| Aluminosilicate-filled PTFE sheet | Garlock® | Gylon 3504 | High-compressibility PTFE with microspheres for fragile and glass-lined flanges. |
| Expanded PTFE sheet and joint sealant | GORE, KLINGER® | Expanded PTFE ranges | No single grade named; compared on construction as 100% expanded PTFE. |
Listed for cross-reference only. Verify the datasheets side by side before substitution.
Dash sizes are defined by AS568, JIS B 2401 and ISO 3601, not by any manufacturer, so an O-ring of the same dash size and compound family interchanges on dimensions. Aerolite® O-rings in NBR, FKM, EPDM and silicone are supplied by dash size, and interchange on dimensions with Parker®, KLINGER® and TOMBO® parts of the same dash size. Compound, hardness and temperature range must still be matched to the service.
A cross-reference gets you to the right family of material. Whether a specific gasket can replace another is an engineering decision for the joint in question. Check these against both datasheets:
Email the brand and grade in your specification, the gasket size or drawing, and the quantity to enquiry@tbj.com.my. We reply with the comparable Aerolite® grade and its datasheet.
